LEXINGTON LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL RESCHEDULE PROCESS

Game Schedule
When the schedule is up on the Lexington Little League website.  This includes your practices, clinics and games.  You will notice that there are games scheduled for Memorial Day weekend.  If you need to move any of these games, please contact the opposing team's manager and agree to a Sunday practice slot to move the game to.  These are the only games that can be moved for non-weather related reasons.  We have tried to avoid conflicts, but it is impossible to avoid every conflict.  All teams are allowed to call up players and every team should have an assistant coach, who can manage the team in your absence.

There are a few days after the regular season, prior to the playoffs, which will be used for make up dates for rain outs.  But if the managers agree, you can move a rained out game to a practice slot.

To reschedule a game, either because of rain out or Memorial Day weekend, the home team manager should send an email to   ,  copying the opposing team's manager, asking to move the game to a specific Sunday practice slot (their the home or away teams' practice slot). Please include the original date, time and field for the game as well as the teams involved. LLL reserves the right to move a practice for a game.

Practice
Your team has been assigned a practice time and field for Sundays starting April 9th through the regular season.  Until Opening Day, teams can also practice on Saturdays at the same time and at the same field as their Sunday practice slot.  If you would like to switch your practice time or field, please contact the manager of the team that has the field.  DO NOT CONTACT THE LLL BOARD.

If you would like an additional practice, prior to the season starting, please send an email to  , and ask for a practice slot to be assigned.  Include your team name, division, and the date and time you would like to practice.  Please do not request a specific field, a field will be assigned, and do not request more than one additional practice per week.  When the practice has been added on the website, you should notify your team.

PLEASE NOTE, THE TOWN HAS NOT OPENED GRASS FIELDS, SO THE EARLIEST YOUR TEAM CAN PRACTICE IS SUNDAY, APRIL 9TH.  And this is dependent on the town opening the fields for Sunday.

We encourage teams to hold a practice on Sundays, unless you have rescheduled a game.  Your players will get better then more they practice.

Clinics
Another way to get better is for your players to attend the weeknight clinics.  I know there is a lot going on, but we really need coaches to attend the clinics as well to help make the clinics manageable.  Please send one of your coaches to the clinics.  The coach attending will most likely pick up tips that will be useful in your team practice.

Rain Outs
When it is raining, the town usually sends a note before 3pm to inform LLL if the fields will be closed.  If the town or the league does not close the fields, it is up to the home team manager to decide if a field is playable.  If there is standing water on the field or the infield is squishy, you cannot play on the field.  If you decide to postpone the game because of rain and an umpire has been assigned, it is the responsibility of the home team manager to contact the umpire - if the umpire shows up for a game and it has been cancelled, but the umpire was not notified, the home team is responsible for paying the umpire.  We strongly recommend that you send a text to the umpire.  If the Town or the League cancels a game, we will contact the umpires.

Umpires
Speaking of umpires, please remember that most of the umpires are teenagers.  Please treat them with respect.  We will hear about it from the umpires, if managers are not acting appropriately.

We will be holding an umpire training prior to the season starting.  A date has not been confirmed, but once it is, you are welcome to attend the training so you can hear what the umpires are being told.  This is not an invitation to participate, but you can observe the training.

Questions
If you have any questions, please contact your division commissioner.

Good luck this season!
